Well established KAMIKO brand seeks a talented designer to provide exciting monthly stories exclusively into Myer Department Stores.
The customer is a 40 + feminine woman who expects the KAMIKO brand to provide fresh, soft yet modern outfits for dressed-up day wear and special events – races, weddings etc.
Creative design role
Commercial brand KAMIKO
Salary around $80k - $100k (depends on experience)
Background/experience required
Excellent eye for print and colour.
Fabric and accessories sourcing experience
3 - 5 years industry experience in womenswear design and product development.
Degree/Diploma in Fashion Design
Photoshop/Illustrator skills for story board presentations an advantage.
Supervision of garment specifications, construction and finish of garments
Fitting expertise and costing experience
Experience with overseas factories in development of product.
Fabric and accessories sourcing experience both local and offshore.
Outstanding multi-tasking and time management skills.
You will be required to
Research and identify global trends applicable the brand’ s target market
Continuous research/ sourcing to ensure an endless supply of new ideas, fabrics and trims.
Create monthly theme boards, colour, print, styling and fabrication in cohesive groups to present to upper management.
Ensure product is always competitive and ontrend
Responsible for preparing garments with costings that fit within the brand price points and margin expectations.
Provide sampling of correct base cloths for proto samples and ensure the lead times for bulk meet with the projected delivery dates.
Brief local patternmakers and oversee specifications for supplier patternmakers in China.
Sign off on strike offs, hand looms, lab dips , fit and finish throughout the various sampling stages through to bulk.
Ensure all styles are approved within the delivery time frame.
Monitor weekly sales at retail and look for opportunities/ideas to increase business.
Excellent communication skills to motivate your team, co-workers and suppliers.
