HENNESSY: SOME QUESTIONS ANSWERED – Point Cook South East P-9 College
Published: March15, 2012
Planning for Point Cook South East P-9 is currently underway, Jill Hennessy, Member for Altona District, said today.
After having Questions on Notice (QON’s) answered by the Minister for Education, the Hon. Martin Dixon recently, Ms Hennessy advises the community of the following information:
? The total cost of construction is expected to be $17.8 Million
? The school is expected to open in 2013 for students from Prep to Year 6
? The schools is expected to be operating as a P-9 school by 2016
? The Department of Education and Early Childhood Development is working with the Wyndham City Council to deliver community facilities on the school grounds
? Funding by the Wyndham City Council will enable construction of a three room kindergarten, car parking and play spaces
? The school is planned to cater for local growing enrolments
Ms Hennessy said “I have communicated regularly with the Minister, the urgent need for increased education facilities in this area.
“This school and the school planned for Truganina should both be fully funded in the upcoming 2012 – 2013 State Budget,” Ms Hennessy said.
“Truganina’s planned school is yet to receive funding while many of our local schools struggle with population caps.
“In another letter recently the Minister advises that the Point Cook South East P-9 is going to cater for 675 students, with the first stage planned to provide for 475 students.
“An additional 475 places will provide little relief to the massive demand faced by local schools in the electorate,” Ms Hennessy said.
“The Baillieu State Government need to take the local infrastructure and educational needs seriously by providing a sound provisioning plan for all schools and students in the West,” Ms Hennessy said.

那我宁愿这个帖子能够安安静静的给pc的居民们一个讨论的空间。

pc的交通的确是问题，现在大问题是公路，bus很少人做更不会有人管了
不过话说回来，如果bus方便，坐火车的人都不用开车，对交通也是一个缓解啊
上次看local paper，说到很多人开始complain现在公路太拥挤，堵车太厉害，
council也在像vic road什么这类的部门争取found修路。。。
不过说实话以澳洲人的办事效率。。。希望不大啊

这是ALAMANDA里面的学校吧？

是的，因为alamanda现在对应的学校成绩一般，所以小区里的人都盼着能早日看到自己的学校建造。
其实featherbrook印象中也有规划小学，但是featherbrook的入住率不高也有关系。
小区内部的论坛也都贴出相关的信息了。
Hi, I have been involved in some of the planning meetings for the new school in Alamanda. An internationally renowned educational consultant has been part of the planning group which has been very fortunate. The design of this school is therefore very innovative and is based on learning communities rather than traditional classrooms. This design allows flexibility with some areas open and others able to be closed off, depending on the needs of the students/teachers.

The Department of Education has released the following information regarding the school:

* The school will provide for 675 students.
* The school will be built in two stages, the first being planned to provide for 475 students up to grade 6 level.
* An Early Childhood Centre is being developed concurrently on the same site.
* Architects have been engaged to design and document the new school, including the Early Childhood Centre and that planning is progressing.
* Works will be tendered for construction during 2012 and Stage One capital works for the school and Early Childhood Centre are forecast to be opened during 2013.

In addition to the info above I can add that they will be hiring a principal in second term to commence in third term of this year. From then community input will be sought in making decisions regarding logo, uniforms and curriculum to get everything ready for next year.
The Early Childcare Centre will have at least two kindergarten rooms.

We still have to rely on the state government to provide Stage 2 funding so that the rest of the school can be completed.

Point Cook growth: Nosy parkers get message

POINT Cook residents have taken their frustrations to the streets, sticking flyers on windscreens at crowded Laverton railway station.
Residents are being urged to attend the new Point Cook Action Group's "meet-and-greet" at Gypsy Road Tapas Bar in Main Street from 7pm this Friday.
The flyer, prepared by Nick Michaelides, paints a picture of his nightmare morning commute caused by choked roads and poor public transport.
He wakes at 5.50am and leaves Sanctuary Lakes at 7am before embarking on a 30-minute drive to Laverton station, where he struggles to find a car park.
Group chairman Bernard Reilly (pictured) says the event is open to anyone who wants to have a say on how Point Cook should grow.
He expects the Growth Areas Authority's plan for a new suburb in Point Cook's west to be among issues discussed.
"The advancement and recognition this group has received has been a real surprise," he said.
