我也碰到这样的邻居，觉得怪怪的。但像20楼说的，你的邻居并没有错。因为最近看到的关于澳洲的法律，关于邻居和树是这样写的.
Any pieces cut off a tree are the neighbour's property and should be returned to the neighbour's side of the boundary. Obviously, it is best if you do any such 'self-help' in consulation with your neighbour.
If you hire a professional tree surgeon to do the work, your neighbour does not have to share the cost.
其实是我们自己的思维，跟澳洲人不同呀。
