Petroleum hydrocarbon is a quite usual pollutant in the site-containmination, and these chamical componds are mainly from using (burning) petrol and other oil by-products.
It seems the site has been resurfaced simply by dig-dump, but has not been "scientifically" remediated such as cermal/biological remediation.
To be honest, PAH would not cause any serious environmental and health issue unless reaching a relatively high level of concentration. What I more concern about is the by product such as lead and other trace metals concentrated in the subsurface soil.
The armous factory shoudl be much less harmful than a petrol station, and it is ok for an adult to live.
But for the heath of your kids, it is not recommended living in there, just in case any environmental harzard has not been detected yet. |
