Development without approval
Communications dishes (radio and satellite)
You don’t need permission from council to install radio and satellite communications dishes if;
Number
Only 1 dish per lot if there is a house on the property
Where there is no house on the property, there can be 1 dish for each separately occupied premises on the property
Size
If it is roof mounted:
diameter no larger than 900mm
no more than 1.8m above the highest point of the roof of the house on the lot
If it is ground mounted:
diameter no larger than 1.8m
no more than 1.8m above ground level
be located in the back yard
setback a minimum of 900mm from each boundary
Location
If your property is in a heritage conservation area or a draft heritage conservation area the dish must be located in the back yard and must not be visible from the road
Radio and satellite communications dishes will require development approval if;
You do not meet all of the above requirement
The property where the dish is to be erected is a listed heritage item or draft heritage item
