if you have written evidence re strata and the construction issue, you can argue that the property is not aligned with what was in the previous agreement and that is why the contract is cancelled. it is NOT because you changed your mind.
If the strata was what has been agreed on (500 dollar less) and there was no construction issues (water leaks), you are more than happy to continue with the contract. If they don't return the deposit, ok, it will be a claim in REIV and consumer affair.
