you can first try a half an hour or one hour lesson at moorabbin flying school, and see how you feel about it.
It is expensive before you get your ppl, and then you might be able to share the engine cost with others flying together.
you will need to renew your medical every year (I think).
my husband has pilot license, so I know a bit of the process.

这个爱好听起来很拉风的样子，不知道楼主有没考虑过安全的问题。
按我的理解是满足个人爱好的飞机应该是小飞机吧，价格便宜但是安全系数不高，新闻常常有小飞机掉下来的报道，小肯尼迪不就是这么挂的吗。而各种各样设备都齐全的大型飞机那就贵多了，不是说民航飞行员每年规定小时数的飞行培训费用都得上百万。
