Sorry wuyu, 我看你没回答,我就去查了一下:
"lurgie" (or maybe "lurgy"?) comes from the old British radio comedy The Goon Show There was an episode entitled "The Dreaded Lurgy" in which a horrible disease swept England。
The lurgy (or lurgi) is Commonwealth English slang for an unspecified contagious disease, generally one considered inconvenient and non-fatal with obvious symptoms, such as influenza or the common cold. Particularly violent strains are often referred to as "The Dreaded Lurgy". Phrases like "I've got the lurgy" are commonly heard when somebody is explaining why they cannot attend a social occasion, come to work, etc.
那么:
I've come down with some kind of lurgie.
是说“我生病了”。
