问题都很常规,关于第一点开启点思路
never compromise the quality.
一点个人意见,never comprise quality不一定在所有地方都行得通。可能还是要分行业和具体情况。
人命关天的地方是理所当然,除此而外,很多时候其实over quality也是很常见的。这时候妥协一下也无妨。
关键是话怎么说。
I would say that such a situation rarely happens for my current job.
Generally every task has been scheduled long time before it starts and reviewed weekly.
In case that its priority has to be changed or other things happen which may cause delay,
I would inform all stakeholders and try to negotiate about new deadline about the task and related ones.
However, some time the task itself is too challenging or has some unforeseeable difficulties.
And when I know I have to make choice between quality and deadline, firstly I would consult with colleagues,
say, my boss, heads of other departments, sales, my team members, to collect opinion and align our positions.
Then I will contact with the customer, carefully, to deliver the message of possible delay and my solutions,
which may includes some kind of compromise of quality.
I always propose multiple solutions to my customer and open to discussion with them.
After all, it is the customer who has the right to choose.
We do have a very demanding and very important customer. Just one, fortunately.
Those guys are extreme picky about quality and intend to specify deadline without even ask our opinion.
For example, sometime I get email from someone of this customer at 5PM of Friday
saying that they want this this and that to be done, and the deadline is no later than 8PM of next Mon., or Tue.
For most of these kind of requirements, I try to work out a brief reports somehow and deliver it before the deadline.
Then I will humbly ask for their opinion and propose further studies or investigations accordingly.
For me, this trick of compromise of quality and deadline works.
