You are right.
To get 80K should not be difficult after 5 years practice.
But there might a bit difference in terms of pay: Ultrasound, X-ray, CT, MRI and others.

Don't need medical background, most Aussi they don't have such background when they started learning, only a few might have nursing background.
For Chinese applicants, many people were doctors in China and it's only a bit easier for them to understand medical terms, also might easier in the future work practice.

我的好朋友在做radiographer，在mel 的一个公立医院，入门时4万多，1到7年既是grade 1年薪也就5万多，我指的是正常的fulltime无加班，但不是所有地方都有加班的。
还有sonographer不是拿到这个bachelor 就可以做的，在mel 还要学一个专门超声学的课程，很多都是master的课程，拿到这个文凭后才可以做sonographer。

Thanks heaps for your reply mate! Though I dnt have education b/g, I've been working in medical imaging industry for 5+ yrs - hope this can be of centain help to gain some extra points.

谢谢Mimi提供的信息！我手上有一份NSW Public Host 的最低薪水标准：PY 后第1年大概是1000/week 之后每年都有递增 做到第7年（Level 3) 至少能到1500/week. 我想这应该还没有包含加班费在内吧?
再就是转songrapher确实是要再去读一个master of sohography. 据我了解是可以part time 读的(貌似还有distance的课程) 我认识一个做appl 的specialist 他和我说已经做了3年 现在每天都还有新的知识要学。。。这个行当真是学无止境啊
