The current LED headlights are not that much more power efficient than the xenon. Does anyone know what the BMW LED headlight's wattage is, my guess is that its not much lower than 35 watts. As far as brightness, LED headlights produce about 100 lumens per watt while xenon produce about 86 lumen per watt. Since LED will use less wattage, the lumen of both should be about the same, just as a reference, halogen headlights gets about 21 lumens per watt. The biggest advantage of LED headlight right now, is the kelvin temp. its in the 5000K range, which is whiter than most xenon. Whiter light do have a cool factor but they do not perform as well in rain and snow. LED should also last longer than xenon and their intensity do not fade as it ages unlike xenon and halogen. |
