洗地毯清洁费和地毯损坏赔偿费是二回事

损坏了东西。赔钱是应该的。
要看赔偿的金额是不是足够修补这个地毯。如果太贵才需要争论

首先，澳洲是有法律并且讲法律的。造成损失就要赔偿但不是没有底线的。楼主先看看这里

这地毯看起来不算很新，但还是可以继续使用的。
换新的话房东自己也要掏一大笔的。他必须支付已经折旧的那部分。维修是最好的选择。你去quote 几家折个中，比如200元，然后跟房东deal。
你要这么看房东的损失：如果他明天卖这个房子，这个小伤疤就是个大问题。可以肯定买家都会挑这个瑕疵来砍价的，尽管没有使用问题。

- 清洁费你出，或你找个清洁公司，给清洁了，给房东收据
- 烫坏了有印子去不掉，是要赔偿的。因为造成了损坏。你入住时候不是这样吧？
这个和房东达成协议多少钱了吗？配色是很麻烦的。或者你自己给修复了，或你找工人报价，你心里也有数。

房东不会真去修地毯的，如果想快点完事，主动提出赔偿，我觉得200多差不多了。如果不着急，就去fair trading 上庭把，最后解决下来也就这么多钱估计，反正也就这么多损失了。
但是损坏的确要赔的

don't worry, looks fine, go for fair trading and you won't pay anything if the unit is over 10 years old, maybe a bit cleaning if it's new, but seems like if owner wants to replace the whole unit, don't agree. go for fair trading.
it's not your fault, owner should expect some damage as it's a place people live, that's why gov allows for depreciation, it's not there for nothing just to give owner more money back, it's for those things that will loss value when people use it (including minor damage).

Just report the landlord to the Fair Trading.
Firstly, the landlord did not submit the bond to the Fair Trading at beginning, he may be penalized when you report this matter to the Fair Trading.
Secondly, the carpet is not new, taken into account the depreciation for those years, it will not cost too much for this damage.
Thirdly, $120 for cleaning is very cheap. If the landlord is asking for $120. You should appreciate his generous.
All in all, leave the $120 and run away.
